About Beatles For Strings

Gordon Bennett is an orchestral arranger who has been inspired to write simple string arrangements of contemporary music for young players. The first arrangements are of well-known Beatles songs by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Twenty Beatles titles are planned and four have been written, ready for recording. Music by other artists may follow once the Beatles project is completed.

Here is what my old pal and brilliant composer/arranger, Alan Hawkshaw, wrote about the project. Alan and I worked together on a TV series in the UK in the early ‘70’s, and he arranged and produced a couple of my singles.

“I think Gordon Bennett is onto a winner here, not so much for himself but for how it can help develop young string players by giving them something to play that will hold their interest, at least to begin with, rather than string quartet arrangements from the standard classical repertoire. Good luck with the campaign Gordon.”

Thanks, Alan
